Oddment [SLURL] is participating in two hunts that started today. For the Autumn, 2010 Twisted Hunt, I have a spooky corn maze kit. Five copy/mod pieces (straight and curved) to make your own corn mazes/corn fields/crop circles... comes with a crow-emitting scarecrow.

I also put out an extra gifty for Twisted hunters: a tiny twisted box avatar! It even spins like the real thing. Pick it up and drive your fellow hunters insane. Comes with alpha layer or invisiprim version.

AND, I've marked down all orange or yellow items 50% in the main store only!

The starting point for Twisted is DV8 [SLURL]. Oddment is stop #103 out of 195, so stick it out.

The second hunt is the Birthday Blitz hunt. I have a sparkly ceiling hanging set out for BB hunters. You're looking for a cupcake.

Frosting

The starting point for Birthday Blitz is DivaLicious [SLURL]. Oddment is stop #28.

Finally, I have three fun new one-prim flower fields set out on the New board. Click for larger images. Groovy Flowers, Purple Pinwheels, and I drawed some flowers!

All out at Oddment [SLURL]

I've just released a set of rainbows and other colorful light beams. What you get in the box:

Three sizes: 10m, 20m, 30m. (Note: the 20m & 30m size use phantom megaprims.)
Two styles: narrow/focused and wide/diffused.
Eight beam types: rainbow, vivid rainbow, pastel rainbow, blue, green, gold, purple, silver.

You can turn the delicate particle effect on or off. Change the beam texture with a touch.

All are COPY, so you can fill your garden with magic and light.

Each beam is only THREE prims.

Really must be seen to be appreciated--come down to Oddment [SLURL] and see them in person!

I've also set the disembodied, tentacled, floating head inna jar avatar WE COME IN PEACE for sale, for those who missed it on my birthday.

AND, I've been updating some older items to be lower prim--including the happy trees, the batty tree, and several flower fields. Come down and see!

August 20 is my RL birthday, and it also happens to be H. P. Lovecraft's birthday, too. So I made a tentacular avatar to celebrate. WE COME IN PEACE is you -- as a disembodied, tentacled, floating head inna jar.

Comes with both viewer 2 alpha layer (yay!) or invisiprim option for older viewers.

Out at Oddment [SLURL] and FREE only on August 20th.

The Shopatorium @ Gallinas [SLURL] (where Oddment has a satellite location) is having an Ice Cream Social mini hunt, starting today. Oddment has a new grazz color out just for the hunt:

Also, I've switched my subscriber system, and have put in a new gift for new subscribers -- a sparkly unicorn horn with rainbow sparkles:

Current subscribers can get it too -- just touch the 'past items' box @ Oddment's main store. [SLURL]

I've been working on a project as a favor for some friends. A couple of friends approached me about creating a monument for their group (the Lycans of the Transylvania sims). We discussed what they had in mind, and what the monument was meant to represent. They'd previously discussed two ideas--a tomb or crypt wall with the image of a wolf and moon carved on it, and names also inscribed, or a pit of bones (representing their 'victims') with names carved on the bones.

I thought about it for a bit and made some sketches. I'd recently reread "From Hell", and I sort of had obelisks (like Cleopatra's needle in London) on the brain. I also had an image flash of the Paris catacombs ossuary, with the piles upon piles of bones and skulls.

I had an idea the stone should be mossy and cruddy, since the sim it's on is green and lush looking. It should look as though it's been there for ages. I designed a stylized werewolf holding the moon in its hands, with the idea being the negative space between the arch of its arms should also form a silhouette of a full moon. Underneath is a motto, and on the reverse of the obelisk is a longer poem about the pack.

Each skull has the name of a pack member and the date they joined.

My friends were adamant that I should sign it, so I did.

I was initially reluctant, for a number of reasons, to take this project on. But one of the friends who approached me about making it--the person who knows me best in all of SL, and vice versa--said I'd be 'brilliant'... you just can't let that down, now can you? Heh.

The monument is located on the Hercynia sim in Transylvania, which is in the midst of celebrating six years on the grid. SL's only seven, so that's a long time! I asked, and was told the sim is residential -- it's open to the public so long as you respect the residents and do not enter any houses. [SLURL]

So I may be a slacker when it comes to blogging, but I do update my flickr fairly regularly. So what happens is, I update there, add notes (I LOVE putting notes on pics!) and then I think, "Well, now it would be redundant to blog this...."

My latest obsession: Fishin'
fishin' for the whale hooker dress at katat0nik

Holy smokes, I hit an H on the Silent Sparrow group-only lucky chair!
I hit an H! it's a miracle!
The pink skin is a dollarbie from Kleineschwein!

You can get at Oddment or on Xstreet!

Yes, it's been positively AGES since I blogged (one year and one new president ago!).

The news is I made a .... sort of store? I made some things, and I liked them, so I decided to try and sell them. Because that's what you do, right?

So. The 'store' is called Oddment (store is in scarequotes because it's really just some boxes and stuff on my mainland plot).

Here are some things one could buy there at the moment:
beams

hedges

gazingball

hypnoxrayspecs

X-Ray specs! Heh. You could also check them out @ xstreet or onrez (though that's going away shortly, it seems....).

So I learned how to make writhing, pulsating tentacles. And of course, I now have to make them all the time. Here's some 5x5x100m megaprim tentacles about to consume Raeyn's island:
megaprim tentacles.... of LOVE

Can you spot teensy Helix?

Have a happy, tentacley Thanksgiving everyone! Cthulhu demands it!

So I made a building! It only took eleventy-billion tries, too. I had so many problems with the flickery seams thing, until I found prim docker. Thank goodness for prim docker. Did you know sometimes a prim will move just a teensy little bit when you click it to edit? I didn't, until I noticed the crappy seams and re-checked my position numbers. So. Frustrating.

Inside, a loft (ooh, how completely uncommon! /me rolls her eyes):

Downstairs, workshoppy-area:

And the roof:

It's just a simple boxy-structure, but I think I learned a lot by building it.

I made myself a monocle. For those times when you need to inspect something, and do it snootily. Tut-tut!
Tut tut, I say. Tut tut.

So I've been muddling along trying to learn Blender. I've been following this series of video tutorials, and when they made a hard hat, I decided I didn't want a hard hat. I wanted a bowler hat! So that's what I made. I tried to make it a little crumpled here and there so it wouldn't look too smooth, but I think it just came out kind of lumpy. Ah well, I made it myself!
my first blender sculpty

I also learned how to make tattoos. Here's my first effort:
my first tattoo

I made a dress, all by myself! The neckline is jaggy and the fabric texture doesn't match from top to bottom to skirt, but I don't care because I made it all by myself.
My first dress

Notice how I took the picture in the most flattering environment setting. Ha.

Also, another Moulin Rouge for me to sit on! I wonder how many of them are in SL? Or how many versions of New Orleans there are? Maybe I should try to find them all and perch on each one.
